7 a.m. TORRANCE - The Sandpipers volunteer group will host its annual
Back-to-School Shopping event. More than 70 underprivileged children will
receive a fully paid Kohl's shopping experience to help prepare them for the
upcoming academic year, thanks to the cooperation of 10 local nonprofit
organizations, contact says. Each child will be paired with a member of
Sandpipers and Sandpiper Juniors to help select and purchase school clothes,

9 a.m. SOUTH LOS ANGELES - The 2021 Major League Soccer All-Star Week
will begin with the MLS WORKS Day of Service, presented by Wells Fargo. MLS
WORKS, the league's social responsibility platform, #HastagLunchbag and
hundreds of fans will pack 1,500 fresh lunches for people who are experiencing
food insecurity in the L.A. area. Volunteers will also aid in assembling 2,500
backpacks filled with school supplies that will be distributed to LAUSD

empower women and domestic violence survivors through art, will hold a

7 p.m. SANTA MONICA - The Los Angeles County Citizens Redistricting
Commission will hold one of 10 scheduled public hearings regarding
redistricting of the five supervisorial districts for the L.A. County Board of
Supervisors. During each public hearing, the CRC will present an overview of
the redistricting process, legal considerations, outreach efforts, public
access plans and a timeline. CRC will also seek public comment and solicit
input regarding questions about the redistricting process and what the public
would like CRC to consider in the redistricting effort. Comments/registration

Smokey Robinson Invitational Golf Tournament. A silent auction, a cocktail

session to discuss the proposed opening for public use of the gate entrance to
the La Ballona Creek Multi-Use Path at the east end of Jackson Avenue. Opening
the entry is expected to increase usage of the path, provide an additional
access point for emergency responders and offer a less physically challenging

Noon LOS ANGELES - Metro will continue a three-part series of virtual
public hearings to discuss the West Santa Ana branch, a light rail line that
would connect Southeast L.A. County to downtown L.A. The hearings will provide
an opportunity for participants to discuss the recently released Environmental
Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report. The 45-day public review and

Christmas Tree Lane at Exposition Park, prior to the MLS All-Star Concert

7 p.m. LOS ANGELES - Blackout 2021, an original multi-media
performance work that ``focuses on the shift from a culture of incarceration to
a culture of care,'' will be presented in an in-person/virtual format on
Wednesday and Thursday. The work was developed by high school students at
various L.A. schools, along with officers from LAPD and the UCLA Police
Department's Crime Prevention Unit, Warner Media's ``Walking the Beat''
curriculum director/program facilitator Angela Kariotis and financial support
